Welcome to Uplands Primary School
I hope you enjoy browsing and that you find the information you need. All the staff, governors and children at Uplands are very proud of their school and I’m certainly very proud to be their executive headteacher.
Uplands Primary School opened in 1962 and was built on the site of ‘Uplands House’. It is a one form-entry school and has a large playing field, trim trail, two playgrounds, outside classroom with a stage, a greenhouse, woodland area and a separate outside area for our Reception class. We also have a refurbished library, hall, 8 classrooms, administration area, new cookery room and a brand new training room.
Every child matters at Uplands and every decision we take is based on what is in the best interest of the children. Our national test results (SATs) show year on year improvement with very pleasing numbers achieving above age related expectations at the end of key stages one and two. However, it is also every bit as important to us that the children at Uplands feel happy and secure, that they respect each other and that they have the self confidence and self esteem to achieve their full potential in a wide range of areas including sport, art and music.
We had an outstanding Ofsted Inspection in June 2006 and again in June 2009. The inspectors said: "Uplands is an outstanding school where pupils thrive". We have a very special school with special children who work hard and genuinely care about each other and other people. The staff and governors are highly skilled and committed to ensuring we provide the very best education we can. We have high standards of behaviour and achievement and there is a real sense of community. Our school seeks to involve parents in partnership with their children’s learning. Parents regularly help in classrooms, with school visits and transport. We also enjoy the support of an active PTA who support us in all aspects of our school lives.
In this website we have tried to give you a broad overview of the school, and we always welcome visitors and comments. Please do not hesitate to get in touch and thank you for taking the time to look at this website.
