Welcome to Uplands Primary School and Uplands Nursery

Uplands Primary School opened in 1962 and was built on the site of ‘Uplands House’. We are a one-form-entry primary school in Sandhurst, Berkshire, with a nursery onsite. Uplands is also a National Teaching School, and lead school of the Forest Learning Alliance. We were last inspected in 2009, and were rated as Outstanding by Ofsted.

Our values, which were created by staff and pupils (as well as our ‘Values Superhero’!), underpin all that we do, and all stakeholders live and work by these values. In our vision, staff and children loved the part about developing a “lifelong love of learning”, and this is something we work to promote every day. Our children are at the heart of all our decisions, and we are committed to providing the best possible education for them.

At Uplands, we enjoy planning exciting, creative lessons and ensure that children have a chance to succeed in all areas of life. This means that all subjects are given importance and are taught in full. In addition to the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, children at Uplands have the opportunity to explore music, arts, sports and more within the school day, and our wide range of extra-curricular activities supports the development of children’s interests out of school.

Our end of Key Stage 2 assessment results have been consistently high for many years, which is made easier by exemplary behaviour, leading to excellent outcomes. Behaviour is taken very seriously, as well as safeguarding, to ensure children feel safe and happy. The staff and governors are highly skilled and committed to ensuring we provide the very best education we can.

All of the above can seem very generic, but it is a true reflection of our school. We are a caring community, with staff and our families referring to the school as a family, and our children are proud and happy to be at Uplands. “Inspired to Achieve” is our motto, and staff are committed to supporting all children, regardless of ability or SEND, to achieve their best and reach age related expectations and beyond.

We are all so proud of our school and would be happy to show anyone round the school. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you require any additional information.
